Hofseth gains an advantage in Norway Hofseth is a leading farm-to-table processor of sustainable farmed salmon and trout. In 2025, the facility Hofseth Processing in Ålesund, Norway will be extensively refurbished to ensure they are keeping up with growing internal demand, but also to position the company as a strategic partner for external opportunities.
. Hofseth has recognized the benefits of Marel and MMC First Process’s recent alliance in supporting their continued expansion of their whole salmon processing line with industry leading equipment and software.
As part of Hofseth’s scaling up, they are moving from a single lane Marel grader to a dual lane Marel whole fish grading solution. Restricted by the need to keep expansion within the existing building footprint, Hofseth, Marel, and MMC First Process, worked in close collaboration together with Samey Robotics to design a solution which not only will significantly increase Hofseth’s grading capacity but also gives them more flexibility, and meets their sustainability goals.
The line will consist of a dual lane Whole Fish Grading Solution with integrated AXIN Software delivered by Marel. From MMC First Process the solution consists of a spiral tank for cooling and continuous outfeed of fish, along with an empty box solution with 200% increased storage capacity, and a high-speed lid applicator. Packing Robots from Samey Robotics with AXIN Dynamic Palletizing software are completing the process. Installation is due to commence in the coming months.
In early 2024, Marel and MMC First Process formed a strategic partnership to bring the benefits of their combined expertise to their customers. The alliance offers a single stop to simplify the purchasing of solutions from aquaculture through further processing, including equipment, software and on-going support for customers. Together they are excited to support Hofseth in the expansion of their grading line with the seamless integration enabled through their strategic partnership. Hofseth is thrilled to be benefiting from two well-known, trusted suppliers working in alliance to improve efficiency and quality to boost their business.
The shared focus on sustainability makes Marel, MMC First Process and Hofseth an ideal partnership to help build a strong future in the fish industry.
