MMC First Process signs a contract with Nova Sea for a land-based holding pen solution

MMC First Process is proud to have signed a significant contract with Nova Sea for designing and delivering holding tank systems that will allow holding pens to be moved from sea to land.

First Process has previously delivered similar systems to Bremnes Seashore and Australis. Both have achieved outstanding quality in their pre-rigor fish. 

Moving holding pens ashore gives improved fish welfare and quality

This project will mean that Nova Sea can move its holding pens ashore, a decision that is driven by the desire to increase the quality of the fish. Bremnes Seashore and Australis have already demonstrated how the land-based approach can contribute to producing fish of the utmost quality, and Nova Sea expects to achieve similar results.

The role of MMC FIRST PROCESS in the project

MMC First Process will design the holding tanks, using advanced technology and experience from previous projects to ensure that all environmental parameters for the fish will be strictly controlled. This will not only improve fish welfare but will also enhance biosecurity and improve the quality of the end product.

Scope of the project

The project includes six holding tanks, each with a capacity of over 2600 m³ of water. These tanks are designed to handle a total biomass of 2050 tonnes of salmon. The system, which will set a new standard for Nova Sea, represents a significant investment in quality and fish welfare.
